Michaelle Dawn Wallen, 41, a homemaker of McAndrews, Ky., died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, in the emergency room of the Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Born Aug. 30, 1966, in Mingo County, W.Va., she was a daughter of Shelia Kay Whitt of McAndrews, Ky., who survives.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert R. and Alice Jean Howell Childress, and two brothers, Robert R. Childress Jr. and James Darrell Childress.

Surviving are a son, Christopher William Wallen of McAndrews, Ky.; two daughters, Allison Tekana Wallen and Janakay Melissa Wallen, both of McAndrews; three brothers, Danny Ray Childress of
McAndrews, Ky., Danny Joe Childress of Chattaroy, W.Va., and David Keith Childress of Williamson, W.Va.; two sisters, Alice Faye Brugh of Pinsonfork, Ky., and Gloria Jean Kennedy of Michigan,
and a host of other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, Ky., with the Rev. David Kilburn officiating. Burial will take place at Chattaroy, W.Va.

Pallbearers will include Robbie Childress, Shane Childress, Rodney Childress, Joe Free, Timmy Leedy and Bobby Burton. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Webb, Chad Childress and Joe Hatfield.

Visitation began after 6 p.m. Monday and will continue Tuesday night at the funeral home with special services set for 7 p.m. Tuesday.


Lassie Jean Walters (photograph), 77, of Sidney, Kentucky passed away Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky.

Born September 8, 1929 in Sidney, she was the daughter of the late Andy and Hazel Gillman Stepp. Other than her parents, preceding her in death is one sister Myrthle Bevins.

She was a homemaker and member of the Mary Elizabeth Old Regular Baptist Church.

Surviving her are her husband John D. Walters of Sidney; one son Eddie Dean (Helen Jean) Walters of Sidney; two grandchildren: Eddie Dwayne Walters and Robin Suzanne Walters of Sindey; and three
sisters: Vonna Deskins, Louise Walters, and Martha Taylor all of Hatfield.

Visitation is after 6:00 pm Friday, June 1, 2007 and Saturday, June 2, 2007 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, Kentucky with special service both evenings at 7:00 pm.

Funeral service is 11:00 am Sunday, June 3, 2007 at Mary Elizabeth Old Regular Baptist Church in Hatfield. Burial is at Smith Cemetery also in Hatfield. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.


Emogene West, 81, of Canada, Kentucky formerly of Cedar Creek Assisted Living in Pikevilee, Kentucky,  passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Appalachian Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing in
South Williamson, Kentucky.

Born August 20, 1925 to the late Grover and Emma Blackburn Elswick, Emogene was a retried cook from Bevins Elementary School and a member of Stone United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death, other than her parents, are husband Greenville D. West; sisters: Goldina Ray and Ina Gay Ray; and brothers: Lewis Elswick and Floyd B. Elswick.

Surviving her are a son Danny C. (Patti) West of Parkersburg, West Virginia; daughter Bonnie (J. D.) Hall of Canada, Kentucky; and three brothers: Grover Lawrence Elswick of Canada, Kentucky, Willie
Fonso (Bill) Elswick of Ohio, and Sonny Elswick of Somerset, Kentucky. Also surviving her are four grandchildren: Sabrina Justice of Lexington, Kentucky, Matthew Steven (Kendra) Cram of
Parkersburg, Justin (Kristn) Hall of Lexington, and Britt West of Parkersburg; and six great grandchildren: Chandler, Chelsea, Alex, Emily, Logan, and Riley Kate.

Ralph Gene West, 64, of Toler, Ky. passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2007 at the Trinity Health Care Center of Williamson.

Born May 8, 1943 in Pike County, Ky., he was the son of the late Ireland and Minnie Thacker West.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ireland Vermon West, and one sister, Sharon Kay West.

He was a mechanic.

Survivors include two sons, Ralph West  Jr. of Tenn. and Danny Joe West of Chattaroy; three daughters, Shirley (Jeff) Hall of Phelps, Ky., Nancy West of Williamson, and Lynn (Tommy) Clark of
Dan's Branch; brothers, Terry (B.J.) West of Aflex, Ky. and sisters, Shirley (Eugene) Dotson of Blackberry, Ky., Helen (Rick) Becker of Ohio and Paula (Patrick) Olivia of Fla.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Anthony and Bethany West. Zachery West, Jasie West,  Blake West, Hunter Zank, Kaitlyn West, Kenedy West and Mason Ray West, and two
great-grandchildren, Christopher Carroll and Shanda Carroll.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007 at the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, Ky. with Johnny Fields officiating.  Burial will follow at the West-Chapman Cemetery in
Canada, Ky., with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home, with special services at 7 p.m.


Fannie Cara (Blue) White of Turkey Creek, Ky., passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Ky.

She was the daughter of Ellis White and Dora Lee Allen White.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Ann Bond; and one brother, Eugene White.
She was a homemaker and member of Belfry Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include one brother, Danny Lee White of Hairman, Tenn.; nephews, Tim, Eddie and Michael White, all of Hairman, Tenn., Steve White of Savannah, Ga., and Eddie (Sherri) Bond of Newport
Richey, Fla.; niece, Linda (Eddie) Shellhammer of Savannah, Ga.; and other great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, Ky., with Buddy Kendrick officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memory
Gardens at Huddy, Ky.

Irene "Birdie" Robinson Williamson, 65, of Sidney, Kentucky passed away Saturday, April 21, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.

Birdie was born May 3, 1941 in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late John and Belvia Ray Francis.

She was a homemaker and worked for the Pike County Board of Education. She was of Freewill Baptist Faith.

Preceding her in death other than her parents are her first husband Moses K. Robinson, six brothers and four sisters.

Surviving her are her husband Clint Williamson; three sons: Danny (Lisa) Robinson, Joe (Bertha) Robinson, and John Robinson all of Sidney; one sister Hazel King of Sidney; stepson Mark Williamson
of Elkhorn City, Kentucky; stepdaughter Kimberly Williamson of Pikeville, Kentucky; and two grandchildren: Erin Robinson and Ashley Robinson of Sidney.

Visitation is after 6:00 pm Monday, April 23, 2007 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, Kentucky with a special service at 7:00 pm.

Funeral services are 11:00 am Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church in Sidney, Kentucky with William Akers and Gary Hackney officiating. Burial is at Apple Orchard Cemetery

George Thomas Wilkerson III, 65, of Rockhouse Rd., Sidney, Ky., passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at his residence.

He was born April 13, 1942, in Pike County, Ky., son of the late George Wilkerson II and Mae Phillips Rutherford.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Anna Lois Gallardo.

Mr. Wilkerson was a disabled coal miner and member of Mount Zion Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, George Wilkerson IV of Rockhouse Rd., Sidney, Ky.; one daughter, Connie Edmiston of McAndrews, Ky.; three sisters, Fannie Jo Hamilton of Allon, Nev., Karen Kay
German of Pennsacola, Fla., and Chiquetta Criner of Blackburg, Va.

Also surviving are special caregivers, Shirley Wilkerson and Brian Edmiston; and five grandchildren, Jordan, Jared and Jonica Wilkerson of Rockhouse Rd., Sidney, Ky., and Brianna and Joshua Edmiston
of McAndrews, Ky.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at Mount Zion Freewill Baptist Church with William Akers and Gary Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View
Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky.

Elizabeth "Libby" Ellen Williamson, 30, of McAndrews, Kentucky passed away July 19, 2007 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky.

Libby was the daughter of James "Bo" Thomas and Mary Ellen Blackburn Williamson also of McAndrews. She was a cashier for Wal-Mart in Pikeville and of Primitive Baptist faith

Preceding her in death are her grandparents Jim (Tud) and Mary Elizabeth (Lib) Williamson and Floyd Blackburn, Jr.

Surviving her other than her parents are, brothers: James Floyd (Geri Dawn) Williamson and Michael Thomas (Shawana Ann) Williamson all of McAndrews; four nieces: Jami Dawn, Samantha Paige,
Vonda Grace and Kaitlyn Marie Williamson; one nephew Gavin Michael Williamson; and grandmother Mary Anita Blackburn of McAndrews.

James "Bob" Williamson Jr., 70, of Pinsonfork, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at his residence.

Born September 9, 1937, in McVeigh, Kentucky to the late Zella Adams and James Williamson, Bob was a United States Army, a disabled miner, and member of McAndrews Church of Christ.

Other than his parents, preceding Bob in death are brother, Jarvis Williamson and sister, Louise Hutcherson.

Surviving Bob are: wife, Francis Williamson; son, James (Melanie) Williamson of McViegh; daughters: Jill (Terry) Bowen of McViegh, Amanda Chapman of McViegh, Jessica (Matt) Williamson of
McAndrews, Kentucky, Paige Scott of McAndrews, and Breanna Dotson of McViegh.

Also surviving Bob are: brothers: Clyde James of Canada, Kentucky and Dennis Williamson of Hay Fork, California; sisters: Tina Cappiletti of Elkhart, Indiana and Rhonda Smith of Varney, West
Virginia; grandchildren: James Williamson IV, Brooke Williamson, Kelsey Bowen, and Nathan Bowen.

Magdalene Williamson, 83, of Phelps, Kentucky passed away Sunday, May 20, 2007 at Good Shepherd Nursing Center in Phleps.

Born January 26, 1924 in Blackberry, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Maudie Coleman Williamson. Also preceding her in death is one brother, Clinton Williamson.

Magdalene was a homemaker.

Surviving her are one brother Virgil Williamson of Good Shepherd Nursing Center in Phelps, and two double first cousins: Charles Williamson of Belfry, Kentucky and Rosa Wolfe of McAndrews,
Kentucky.

Wayne E. "Pearl" Willingham, 52, of Turkey Creek, Kentucky passed away Sunday, June 10, 2007 at Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Kentucky.

Born December 16, 1954 in Annison, Alabama, Wayne was the son of the late Joe E. and Frances Thrower Willingham. He is also preceding in death by one sister, Charlotte Davis.

Wayne was a retired sales clerk from NAPA Auto  and a member of the Turkey Creek Freewill Baptist Church.

Surviving him are his wife Patricia A. Lowe Willingham; daughter, Brandy Nicole Willingham of Lexington, Kentucky; one brother, Danny J. Willingham of Atlanta, Georgia; two aunts: JoAnn Rollins of
Hefilin, Alabama and Martha Penney of Anniston; along with a host of loving family and friends.

Sidney Gary Williamson (photograph), 54, of McAndrews, Kentucky passed away Sunday, August 12, 2007, at his residence.

Born November 16, 1952 in Mingo County, West Virginia, Sidney was the son of the late Sidney Williamson, Jr. and Ruby Stacy Williamson.

He was retired from the Pike County Solid Waste Department.

Surviving him are his wife, Madonna Kay Elswick Williamson of McAndrews; one daughter, Dannielle Williamson Erwin of Forest Hills, Kentucky; two brothers: John Williamson of Williamson, West
Virginia and Jim Williamson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; three sisters: Linda Sloan and Sharon Schoeb both of Pittsburgh, and Kathy Backun of Hillard, Ohio; one grandchild, Jaxon Garrett Erwin and a
host of loving family and friends.

Visitation is after 6:00 pm Wednesday, August 15, 2007 and Thursday, August 16, 2007 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, Kentucky.

On February 16, 1925,
Betty Jean Bevins Wilson brought her light into this world. A bright light it was. On September 16, 2007, she rejoined her husband of 52 years Charles "Richard" Wilson, Jr. in
eternal unity.

Surviving are two daughters Candice Jane Wilson of Vestal, New York and Sharon Ann Wilson Lathrop and husband Harvey of Clayton, North Carolina; three grandchildren: Cynthis Jand Faith, Donald
Faith, Jr. and wife Antoinette, and Rebecca Lathrop Love and husband Brad; and five great grandchildren: Lynda Faith, Richard Faith, Candice Faith, Natalie Love and Nicholas Love.

Betty had spent the last few years close to her daughter, Sharon, in Clayton. Prior to that, she lived in Chapmanville, West Virginia. But, her true home was always the Williamson, West Virginia area.
Born in Goody, Kentucky, to Benjamin "Harrison" Bevins and Louisa Harris Bevins, she had five sisters and two brothers all who preceded her in death; Ola Bevins Sloan, Aritha Bevins Hamlet, Gladys
Bevins Priddy, Mae Bevins Stepp, Helen Bevins Thompson,York Bevins, and Benjamin Harrison Bevins Jr.

They were members of the First Baptist Church of Williamson and the First Baptist Church of Logan. More recently, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clayton. While her physical
presence will be missed, her lively attitude and life lessons will always be reflected on by her family and friends.

Funeral service will be at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel in Belfry, Kentucky at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 21. There will be a calling hour prior to the service at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers
memorial contributions may be made in Betty's name to the American Heart Association. Burial is at Mountain View Memory Gardens in Huddy, Kentucky.

Betty Jo Yates, 68, of Merrimac, W.Va., passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Ky.

She was born Dec. 23, 1938, in Pike County, Ky., daughter of the late Charlie Hamilton and Jane Moore Whitt.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Charles Whitt.

Mrs. Yates was a homemaker, mother and member of Cornerstone Church at Hatfield Bottom.

Survivors include her husband, Bernard Yates; one son, Melvin Charles McCoy of Merrimac, W.Va.; two daughters, Debra J. McCoy of West Blockton, Ala., and Shella Huffman of Sweetwater, Tenn.
Other survivors include five brothers, Jim Ed Whitt of Merrimac, Danny Whitt of Red Jacket, W.Va., Rick Whitt of Sprigg, W.Va., McArthur Whitt of Wellston, Ohio, and Sammy Whitt of Williamson,
W.Va.; four sister, Patty Varney of Beckley, W.Va., Maggie Sesco of Williamson, W.Va., Roberta Blackburn of Columbus, Ohio, Brenda K. Barger of Laurel Creek, W.Va.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Beverly Nicole Hensley, Amanda Dawn McCoy, Brandon Lee Hensley, Melvin Lee McCoy, David Michael McCoy, Joshua McCoy and Anthony McCoy.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, 2007, at Cornerstone Church at Hatfield Bottom with Jim Ed Whitt, Thomas Edward Whitt and Dave Stratton officiating. Burial will
follow in the family cemetery at Merrimac, W.Va.

Geraldine Young (photograph), 67, of Turkey Creek, Kentucky passed away Friday, June 22, 2007 at Parkview Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pikeville, Kentucky.

Born June 30, 1939 in Pike County, Kentucky, Geraldine was the daughter of the late Wallace and Lula Scalf Young. Also preceding her in death are three sisters: Eula Mae Gilliam, Pauline McCoy, and
Irene Johnson.

Geraldine was employed for 22 years in the laundry of Appalachian Regional Hospital and a member of Bells of Joy Church in Hatfield, Kentucky.

Surviving her are one son, Victor Steenbergen of Turkey Creek; one daughter, Anita Fickey of Belfry, Kentucky; five grandchildren: Justin Fickey, Kevin Fickey, Danny Steenbergen, Kimberly
Steenbergen, and Teresa Steenbergen. Also surviving Geraldine are two brothers: Clifford Young of Prestonsburg, Kentucky and Don Young of Dayton, Ohio; and two sisters Juanita Coleman of
Michigan and Betty Jean Gillispie of Lexington, Kentucky.
